Freshman progress report – South Carolina
The Palmetto Bowl brought the South Carolina Gamecocks to Death Valley for a 7 p.m. matchup with the 2nd ranked Clemson Tigers in a battle for state bragging rights. The Gamecocks would come out hot first early in the first quarter but the Tigers would answer quickly and tie the game up with a one-yard touchdown run from Adam Choice.
Trevor Lawrence would come out hot with a 22-yard pass to Hunter Renfrow that would set the Tigers up for a one-yard touchdown run from Adam Choice. Lawrence would later find Tee Higgins for a 22-yard touchdown run that would tie for the longest scoring drive of 95 yards. The fans were in for a treat as the Jumbo fridge package would make an appearance and Christian Wilkins would score on a handoff from Trevor Lawrence, which would be the longest scoring drive of the year of a 97-yard play. Lawrence would find Adam Choice for another touchdown run, this time of 2 yards.
Other Freshman would impact in the Tigers 28-21 halftime lead over the Gamecocks:
Derion Kendrick – 27-yard punt return, 25-yard punt return, 13-yard catch
BT Potter – 65-yard kickoff, touchback, 65 – yard kickoff touchback, 65-yard kickoff, touchback
Justyn Ross – 26-yard run, 17-yard catch
Lyn-J Dixon – 10-yard rush, the 9-yard rush

Tonight, Trevor Lawrence would reach a career high of 357 yards, which is the most by a Clemson quarterback against the Gamecocks in school history, Lawrence would find Travis Etienne for a 2-yard touchdown as well as a seven-yard handoff to Travis Etienne for a touchdown and would handoff to Adam Choice for a 15-yard touchdown run.
