Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney met with the media via Zoom from the team meeting room inside of Allen N. Reeves Football Facility on Tuesday morning. The head coach gave a preview on the Tigers upcoming road game against Florida State and also gave an update on the injury front.
James Skalski (groin) and Frank Ladson Jr. (foot) were both ruled out by Coach Swinney and Tyler Davis, Bryan Bresee, Joseph Ngata and Mike Jones Jr. were listed as “day-to-day” by the man in charge.
With the Clemson Tigers sitting in second place in the ACC standings, just one game behind first-year ACC opponent Notre Dame, the coach pointed out the team’s challenges this year, and how proud he is of how they have dealt with them.
Swinney also told the media that the Tigers had to be careful with freshman quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei during his first two career starts. After suffering a bruised shoulder on a run against Miami, Uiagalelei and Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliot had to pick and choose the times they wanted to run the 6’5 250-pound freshman due to his injury.
With the NCAA voting this week on possibly delaying the recruiting dead period once again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Swinney gave a little sneak peak at what the Tigers and recruiting staff are doing to combat the challenge.
Clemson has wrapped up its 2021 recruiting class, but many 2022 recruits may commit to play for Swinney without ever taking a step onto the campus of Clemson.
Clemson (7-1, 6-1 ACC) will travel to Tallahassee, Florida this weekend looking to get back on the winning trail. Kick off is set for noon on ABC.
