Dabo Swinney Press Conference: RECAP
Coach Dabo Swinney held his weekly press conference inside the Allen Reeve’s Football Facility on Tuesday morning. Swinney was there to go over the upcoming game with ACC Atlantic division foe Louisville. Coach Swinney started the press conference off with a prepared statement on the Tigers win over Florida State and then moved on to the Cardinals of Louisville.
On the Cardinals, Swinney seems to have been impressed by what he saw on film as he exclaimed “Louisville is 2-6 is the best 2-6 team I’ve seen….Record is not indicative of the players they have” Dabo then went on to discuss the schematics of Bobby Petrino’s offense and stated “Physical..well a coordinated offensive scheme “ On their offensive line which returns three starters “Massive up front “ and when discussing the physicality fo their receiving corps “As good a group of receivers as we’ve seen” … and on Micky Crum the Cards tight end “Effective Tight End”
On their issues that have plagued Petrino’s squad this year, he quipped “The biggest thing is they are 127th in the country in turnover margin . . . Had some really tough breaks…Sure their coaches are frustrated “ But was quick to point out they are the best 2-6 team he has ever seen stating “Capable of playing with anybody” citing the first half of the Alabama game as the Cardinals held their own.
On the Louisville Quarterback, Jawon Pass Swinney was more than impressed with the Cardinal signal callers physical attributes and arm strength. Noting that he has “Not been as consistent as he can be… A streaky capable guy… “
On the mindset of the Louisville team as they arrive in Clemson for Saturday’s matchup “Expect a challenge . . . A big-time battle…This is not a 2-6 football team.
Swinney then turned the subject to his team and it’s abilities saying “For us is about being locked in and continue to build momentum and be consistent … I like where we are … we got a healthy team..confident team … more importantly, we got great leadership and great focus…This phase of our season presents a lot of opportunities “
Swinney was then asked about the “redshirt” situation for the 2018 Dabo mentioned that “KJ Henry only player so far that has used all his RedShirt availability”
