Dabo Swinney held his last weekly press conference of the 2018 season ahead of the upcoming game with Pittsburgh on Saturday inside Bank of America Stadium. The ACC Championship which is set to kick off at 8 pm in front of a national TV audience broadcast by ESPN. Swinney started with his prepared opening remarks and then took questions from the gathered media. Here is what the Tigers Head Coach had to say in regards to the game with the Panthers and much much more.
Swinney started off by saying “Excited about practice this week…Not many teams get to practice this week” On the Panthers “Want to Congratulate Pitt…Lost to ND (undefeated) UCF (Undefeated)…They’re a champion just like we are a champion” Back to the season and it’s accrued accomplishments he stated “Been an amazing season.. fastest Season I have been a part of. A blink. A blur”
Then Swinney mentioned the ALL ACC team which was just announced and he stated “Bunch of guys is honored as All-Conference 21 guys 1st,2nd or 3rd team…It’s been an awesome team to be around…They are excited about this postseason”
On the week ahead and the work needed to be put in “Regardless of what happens Saturday night they have been grinding… For us, it’s about finishing as strong as we can…Pitt is a tough physical football team… The come right at ya’…3 runs to every pass…30 and 22 are great players…Bunch of formations and a bunch of shifts really challenges you…We gotta make sure we match the mindset they bring:” He then mentioned the experience level on the Pitt side of the ball “They had 13 guys coming on D that started 4 or more games last year
You have to make plays and be disciplined “
Then Swinney addressed the comments over the weekend in regards to the SC game and fan opinion and articles that some outlets used as “Click Bait” to stir up the fan base “If you can’t have fun winning. Why does it ?”…: ”Our fans are amazing 98% of them” …There is always a small % that are out of touch with reality”…”Fun is in the winning …I’m miserable when we lose …Losing is a part of your success part of your growth…never coached a perfect game never had a team play a perfect game …The win is a win…Nobody is ever gonna steal my joy “
