CSN Spotlight: Cade Klubnik
By: Grayson Mann
With football season just days away, it is time to examine what we can expect from the freshman signal caller this year. Cade Klubnik coming out of Westlake, was one of the highest-ranked players within his class. Cade generated excitement with his signing, and that chatter continued into spring and summer.
Cade can make plays with his arm and his legs and is not afraid to run in space. He led his team to three consecutive state championships in Texas, a state filled with outstanding talent. The big stage is something Klubnik is familiar with.
Coming into Clemson, the central question surrounding the start of his career was how much he would play his first year. He would sit behind D.J. Uiagalelei, who led the team to ten wins and a bowl victory against Iowa State. Having a quarterback room with these talented players is an excellent problem to have. The presence of Klubnik can be a way for healthy competition to grow and make the team better for it. Head coach Dabo Swinney during fall camp, has often raved about the strength of the quarterback room. That has been on display all summer.
Cade has impressed everyone during camp and looks more than ready should his number be called this season. His offensive coordinator, Brandon Streeter, had this to say last week on the status of Klubnik’s playing time.
“Cade’s gonna play. There’s no doubt about it, he’s gonna play. How much? It’s hard to tell. We’re still a couple of weeks away.”
Klubnik will undoubtedly have opportunities to show the college football world what he is all about; it is just a matter of how many snaps he will have to do it. Whether that may be garbage time duties or splitting series, fans should be excited to get a glimpse of the freshman signal caller this fall.
