Jordan McFadden: Stepping Up

One of the most significant adjustments for the Clemson football team this year will be building up an almost entirely new offensive line. The only returning starter from last year is junior Jackson Carman; this leaves redshirt sophomore Jordan McFadden the ability to step up to help lead the strong offensive line.
McFadden was initially committed to Virginia Tech before making the final decision to come to Clemson. He said, “I was just talking to some of my teammates about how I feel like coming here was the best decision I ever made. Just with my family and I’ve gotten a lot closer with my teammates and really feel this was the best place for me to come.” His decision to come here continues to be seen as a good one as he is expected to show off his athleticism by taking a starting position this season. At the end of last season, Head Coach Dabo Swinney said, “He’s one of those guys I think could play any position, but he’s probably the guy that will be that right tackle for us going into the spring for sure. But he’s doing a good job and just keeps getting better, and I’m really excited about his potential and his development to this point.”
Offensive Line Coach Robbie Caldwell is ready to start utilizing McFadden’s versatility this upcoming season, as he likes to be able to change up what position his players are in. “One of the guys who has progressed as much as anybody is Jordan. He’s really coming on. He’s going to be something very special,” said Caldwell. Going into 2020 with 332 snaps over 17 career games, McFadden is ready to take the field and help lead the Tigers offensive line.
