Coach Venables Post-Game

Following a 73-7 win over Georgia Tech, Defensive Coordinator Brent Venables spoke with media to discuss the domination. Venables started by saying how the team had a good rhythm going today, allowing them to take over the field. He explained that part of this was the result of the player’s attitudes. He was saying how his players are driven and excited to play and succeed.

Venables has been leading a young secondary who has shown that they need some improvement. However, he emphasized how all of the failures have lead them to be the players that they are currently. Since the first game, Venables has seen some noticeable improvement from that group of guys.

Venables later explained how the defensive group has been successful at forcing turnovers, one big one coming from Nolan Turner. The interception by Turner marked his second one of the season.

Overall, Venables was happy with the defensive performance, other than some technique that needs to be cleaned up. Venables and his defense will be preparing for their next game at home against the Syracuse Orange at noon on Saturday.
