BT Potter

Junior kicker BT Potter is headed into the 2020 season with a new confidence level after developing from last year’s errors. Potter spent the offseason putting in the extra work to have a successful season both mentally and physically. Head coach Dabo Swinney explained, “B.T. is in another place confidence-wise. It is always great to see guys mature and grow into their role, to handle the adversity, to handle the success and really just both of those things to develop, and he’s done that,” said Swinney.
After finishing off last season making the longest field goal in National Championship history with his 52-yard conversion against LSU, Swinney believes that Potters confidence from that game has carried over into this season. Swinney said, “I thought his momentum to finish the season last year really carried over into spring, and prior to spring being canceled, he had only missed one field goal. He’s been really good, and I think he’s 80-something percent.”
Potter’s talent has gotten increasingly better; however, there’s a new challenge this year. College kickers have to battle every year with fans behind the goal post, adding extra pressure onto the kicker. Potter explained to media on Tuesday that it will be different, but he thinks he will be able to take on the challenge. This Saturday against Wake Forest will be Potter’s first opportunity to show Clemson fans how he’s developed since last season.
