The last several weeks, predictions have been tight. The Clemson Tigers plays host to the UConn Huskies on Military Appreciation Day on Saturday. It’s not going to be so close this week.
Earlier this week, Coach Dabo Swinney made a statement, in jest, that he would probably get fired if he lost to UConn. Another site ran with it but we all know that’s not going to happen.
UConn is not going to present much of a challenge on either side of the ball. Although WR Joseph Ngata will probably miss the game, this game will the give offense the opportunity to work on the passing game, and maybe give RBs Will Shipley and Kobe Pace a break to rest up for Wake Forest.
Several players got banged up against Louisville, including QB DJ Uiagalelei, RBs Shipley and Pace, and WR Ngata. Uiagalelei will probably start the game but don’t expect him to play past the first half. There are several guys that will be game day decisions but the Tigers simply out-talent the Huskies on both sides of the ball.
Clemson should have its way in the trenches, and it will be a game where the backups get their shot at playing time.
“Every game seems to come down to the last play, so we aren’t taking anything for granted, “ said Coach Swinney on Wednesday.
Sorry, Coach. This game will not go down to the last play. The key to this game is coming out healthy. With injuries and transfers, most recently OL Paul Tchio, the reserves definitely need to show out and the will. Clemson will score a lot on Saturday and UConn will score very little, if at all.
Military Appreciation Day honor’s the men and women of all military services. This Clemson team will finally give the fans a game where they aren’t all holding their breath on the last play of the game.
