Clemson Holds First Scrimmage of 2024 Fall Camp

Clemson’s first scrimmage of fall camp on August 10 at Memorial Stadium, also known as Death Valley, provided some valuable insights into the team’s progress. Head coach Dabo Swinney shared his thoughts on the scrimmage, highlighting both the positives and areas for improvement.

Swinney praised the offensive line, stating, “If I had to just say who won the day, I’d say the OL won the day. I’m really pleased with how they’ve performed to this point, and I was anxious just to see them go today. I thought they came right out and opening drive, touchdown drive. I thought Cade had an outstanding day”.

He also mentioned that the scrimmage was the first full-contact practice of the preseason, and while there were some good moments, there is still a lot of work to be done before the season opener against Georgia. Quarterback Cade Klubnik received special mention for his performance, with Swinney noting that he had an “outstanding day”. The scrimmage also served as an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate the team’s overall readiness and identify areas that need improvement.

Overall, the scrimmage was a crucial step in Clemson’s preparation for the upcoming season, and the team will continue to work on refining their skills and strategies in the weeks leading up to the opener with Georgia on August 31.
