Clemson Football Recruiting Update

While Clemson prepares for the upcoming game against Georgia, recruiting still goes on behind the scenes. One of the top players in the state of South Carolina, Jaleel Skinner, announced yesterday he will be committing on October 9th, the day after his birthday. One of the top tight end prospects in the country, Skinner transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for his senior year and does sport 24 offers, including the Tigers. He is currently rumored a lean to Florida State.

Earlier in the week, one of the top WR Tiger targets announced his final six, which also included Clemson. Andre Greene Jr. has garnered a whopping 57 offers leading up to his senior year, and he has narrowed it down to Clemson, LSU, Oregon, Georgia, Penn State and North Carolina. Highly recruited Travis Shaw out of Greensboro, NC, is expected to announce his commitment on August 21st and the Tigers are firmly in this mix. It is rumored he is leaning towards UNC as Mack Brown has put on the full monty trying to keep this big DT instate. He may have just convinced him to stay home but it all depends on how bad Shaw wants to play for “state titles” vs National Titles.

Currently, the Tigers are ranked 5th behind Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and Georgia, nothing new. A few more top recruits are needed for Clemson to move up a notch or two. The Tigers have 19 commitments to date while the four ahead of them all have 20+.
