The Clemson Men’s Basketball team took on the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in a 7 p.m matchup in Littlejohn tonight, a game where Shelton Mitchell would reach 1000 career points as a Tiger. During the first half, the Tigers were shooting at 54% making 14-26 compared to Charleston Southern who was shooting at 36% making 9-25. The Tigers are still continuing to struggle with the three-pointers, in the first half the Tigers were shooting at 0%, the Tigers made 0 on 7 attempts compared to Charleston Southern who was shooting at 50% and making 5-10. Elijah Thomas leads the Tigers with 19 points and 7 rebounds, David Skara leads the team with 4 assists. 

 

 

    The Tigers came out hot in the second half, scoring 18 points in the first three and a half minutes lead by Aamir Simms, who hit two consecutive three-pointers. The Tigers were shooting at 60% making 29-50 attempts against CSU who shot at 34% making 19-56. The Tigers improved their three-point shots, making 32% including a three-pointer by freshman Parker Fox near the end of the game. Center Trey Jemison played the last three minutes of the game, Jemison has been limited to playing time due to an injury suffered at the beginning of the season. Elijah Thomas led the way for the Tigers the entire game scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds with Shelton Mitchell with 6 assists.  

    Elijah Thomas led the way with 25 points this game, “I have some great teammates, great ball movement. We had some pretty great practices this week. We were just ready to play this week.” Aamir Simms commented on Elijah Thomas leadership “It’s always great to have Eli on the team, I knew when I needed him he was always in my ear encouraging me and he is the same way with the rest of the team.” 

 

    Coach Brad Brownell stated that this game was a “pretty good defensive performance.” “The turnovers tonight were a problem, that has me a little upset. It was a fairly good performance despite some turnovers.” Charleston Southern forced 22 turnovers against the Tigers. 

    Marquise Reed is still on a day to day basis and is doubtful that he will play Saturday against South Carolina.
