Word out of Clemson today … is that 2018 Signee and early enrollee Josh Belk is planning to transfer to South Carolina with an unconditional release from the program.  Belk, an under-valued 2018 Clemson commit, showed he was very under rated by many recruiting services with his performance at the Army All American game and practices preceding the game.

Belk had been rumored to have tried to “quit” the football team a number of times over the spring.  This will definitely affect the Tigers defensive line depth especially if you add in the recent transfers by Sterling Johnson and Jabril Robinson.   The Tigers are going to count on players like Jordan Williams to step up and into a role a little faster and hopes the injury bug stays out of the defensive line meeting room.

Stay tuned as we will update this story as we await an official release from Clemson on the matter.

“I will be transferring from Clemson University,” Belk posted on Wednesday. “I appreciate the Clemson staff, fans and Coaching staff. Thanks to Coach Swinney for the opportunity. Nothing bad to say about the University and my time there. Just feel that it’s the best decision for my family and I.” #GodsPlan

Statement from Coach Swinney:

“Josh is a good young man from a great family. Sometimes circumstances change, as is the case with Josh.

“We are disappointed he is leaving, but I enjoyed being around him the past few months. He did everything that was asked of him and had an excellent semester academically. I wish him all the best in the years to come.”
