Freshman defensive lineman Bryan Bresee only had two tackles in the Tigers 34-28 win over Boston College on Saturday inside of Memorial Stadium, but one of those tackles just happened to be the biggest one of the game. With the Tigers up only four points, and the Eagles with the ball, Bresee sacked the Boston Colleges quarterback in the endzone for the game sealing sack and safety.
The Clemson defense and Bresee had to make some adjustments at halftime, as the Tigers were facing a 28-13 deficit, the largest regular season one since 2014.
The true freshman from Maryland was not just a defensive force on Saturday afternoon, but also a supporting roommate. Bresee and his living mate, D.J. Uiagalelei both received starts against Boston College. In his first collegiate start, Uiagalelei finished with over 340 passing yards and accounted for three total touchdowns. He also helped lead Clemson to the largest comeback win in school history at Memorial Stadium.
“It was awesome hearing that my roommate was going to be out there and one of my best friends here was going to get to start his first college game.” Said Bresee on Zoom with the media. “He’s been working really hard since January. He spends a lot of time in the film room, so I knew he would be ready.”
Bresee recorded his third sack of the season on Saturday, which is second behind fellow freshman, Myles Murphy. Not bad for the former #1 overall recruit in the nation in the class of 2020.
Clemson will travel to South Bend, Indiana for a match up with the top-4 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish next weekend. The last time the two teams met, Clemson saw themselves advance to the National Championship Game after a Cotton Bowl Playoff Semi-Final Game win over the Irish. Kick is set for 7:30 pm on NBC.
