Highly sought after cornerback Nyland Green has announced on his twitter that he will be committing to his school of choice next week, December 8th.
The 4-star Green is currently ranked as the #5 cornerback in the country in the 2021 class, and the #9 player in the state of Georgia. The 6-2 185 CB out of Covington, Georgia and played for Newton High School, helping lead them to an 8-3 record.
According to 247 national writer, Charles Power:
“Productive on both sides of the ball, playing receiver and cornerback.Physical at the line of scrimmage and can use his length to disrupt wide receivers’ releases. Shows fluidity in man coverage and can flip his hips and stay attached downfield. Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside of developing into an early round NFL Draft pick.”
So, where will Green go? 247 is split 50-50 between Clemson and Georgia. The man has 32 offers, including offers from Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Clemson and Tennessee. In 2021, Dabo Swinney and staff offered a grand total of 72 players. 72. Alabama? 218. Ohio State? 167. Notre Dame? 153. Clemson? 72. This point has been beaten around so much, people forget how choosy Clemson is when it comes to football offers. Want to go to the extreme? Tennessee? 470. South Carolina? 278.
Landing Green in this 2021 class would be icing on an already good class. Andrew Mukuba is the lone secondary player committed to Clemson. So, picking up Green would give the Tigers a CB and a SAFETY in this class. More to come on Green next week.
