Two of the least heralded players on the football field are the long snappers and the holders. Today, Clemson got a commitment from one of the best long snappers in the country in the 2021 class.
Holden Caspersen out of Roswell High School, Roswell, Georgia, committed to the Tigers, making him the 20th commitment in the 2021 class.
Long snapping is crucial to the game of football. One bad snap can alter the outcome of a play, game, or season. College football coaches now realize the importance of this specialization and are therefore dedicating more than time to the recruitment of long snappers. The opportunities for long snappers are growing quickly. Here is what Rubio of Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking had to say about Caspersen.
“ Holden was flat out great at the Rubio Long Snapping Fall Camp in Georgia on December 6th. His speed is excellent and I don’t recall ever even seeing him snap a ball about 70 the entire day! He handles pressure very well and is super accurate with his snaps. Holden has great form and uses his body really well in his snapping motion. The more size and strength (6-0 210) he puts on, the more dominant Holden will be in the long run. He is a hard working long snapper that is always improving.
At the camp in March, Caspersen was very solid. He had great form and he is using the whole body very well. Smooth long snapper that is easily always under.75 with his punt snaps. The harder he snaps and the bigger he gets, the more he will dominate the other long snappers in his class. I absolutely love when Holden drives his elbows back to the punter to create even more whip on the ball. Hard working long snapper that is improving drastically. Keep a very close eye on Holden this next year.
