CLEMSON, S.C. — The No. 4 Clemson men’s soccer team hosts South Carolina (1-1) on Friday night at Historic Riggs Field. The rivalry match is slated for 7 p.m., and the broadcast is set to stream on ACCNX.
Clemson began its season 2-0, defeating St. John’s and USC Upstate 2-1 and 5-0, respectively. Their performance earned them a jump into the fourth spot of the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Tigers were ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll.
Friday marks the 50th all-time meeting on the pitch between the Tigers and Gamecocks. Clemson holds a 31-17-1 advantage in the series, including their current seven-game winning streak over their cross-state foes. Head Coach Mike Noonan is 9-3 against South Carolina while at the helm for the Tigers.
Starting in net for Clemson will be Third Team All-ACC goalkeeper George Marks, who would move into a tie for fifth place on Clemson’s all-time wins leaderboard with a victory. Marks was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the first week of the season as a result of his performances across the first two matches. Isaiah Reid, who leads the Tigers with three goals on the season, was named to College Soccer News’s Team of the Week for August 22-29.
