#4 Tigers Trash Terriers 59-14

Clemson, SC

Clemson came into this Military Appreciation Day looking to continue a few things including the momentum of this season.. A season that now sees this team at now 9-0 following the impressive and precision like 59-14 win. Clemson now sits at 9-0 and are looking at a date next week in Raleigh for a night time ABC match up in ACC Divisional play with the Wolfpack of NCST.

On this Saturday the Tigers wasted no time scoring on four of its first drives and Clemson running back Travis Etienne led the way literally after his third 200 plus yard game of his career. Travis rushed for 212 yards on just nine rushes and averaged a gaudy 23 yards per carry on the evening. With a long of 86 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day Etienne exited the game mid 3rd quarter. His teammate Trevor Lawrence was very efficient on the night himself, the sophomore QB was 12/16 for 218 yards and three touchdowns in limited play. Lawrence was very efficient and all three touchdowns went to three separate receivers.

The Clemson defense was just as efficient on the day tying a record in holding opponents in nine consecutive games to less than 300 yards total offense in a game. Isiah Simmons continued a stellar season, one that is seeing the Missouri native being mentioned as one of the top defensive players in the nation. Today Simmons again showcased that skillset and had a key interception deep in Wofford territory. On the day the Terriers were able to muster up 14 points and 256 total yards. But as has been the case all season this defense of “no names” has overachieved and proven the pundits wrong.

This day would also see the benches emptied on both sides of the ball with over one hundred players on the roster seeing action in this game. With 702 yards of total offense this Clemson team set more than a few records, but one particular milestone of note was this team has now manage to scored 45 points or more in four straight games for the first time in program history.. This team now extends it NCAA leading win streak to 24 games and now 22 straight inside the friendly confines of Death Valley.

Clemson now travels to NCST next week for ACC action and looking to extend its win streak to 25 straight and continue on its road to the repeat. As the Wolfpack will be looking to play spoiler as the Tigers come into Raleigh to face a team that is reeling after losing to Wake Forest on Saturday for its fourth conference loss of the season.
