2025 Clemson Pro Day

By: Charlie Lathan

Clemson Football’s 2025 Pro Day just wrapped up at the Poe Indoor Practice Facility and featured seven former Clemson players, two of which did not perform drills due to injury. The players working out included Jake Briningstool (TE), Barrett Carter (LB), RJ Mickens (S), Payton Page (DT), and Aidan Swanson (P), while Phil Mafah (RB) and Marcus Tate (OL) were only available for interviews as they both continue to recover from postseason surgeries. All 32 NFL teams had representation at the event, although Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers was the sole head coach in attendance. Several NASCAR teams were also in attendance, scouting for their respective pit crews.

The Pro Day started off with a brief 5 minute punting exhibition by Aidan Swanson just outside of the indoor practice facility. The event then moved indoors for the remainder of the drills, which began with the vertical jump. Barrett Carter was the only player that participated in the drill and he posted a respectable 33″ vertical, 1.5″ off of his 34.5″ vert at the NFL Combine two weeks ago.

Moving on to the 225ib bench press, Payton Page and Barrett Carter both impressed with 27 and 22 reps respectively. RJ Mickens also participated and posted 17 reps.

Page and Carter were the only two players to run the 40-yard dash. Their official times have not yet been released.

After the 40-yard dash, Jake Briningstool made his initial appearance at the event for the short & 3-cone shuttle followed directly after by his tight end passing drill with former teammate and Clemson starting quarterback Cade Klubnik. Briningstool looked crisp in both his route running and pass catching aside from one bad drop that hit him directly in the hands and then fell to the ground on a short crossing route. Only one other pass fell incomplete during the drill, but it was an uncatchable misfire by Klubnik on an out route.

The remainder of the position drills then took place while interviews with the injured players that did not participate in the Pro Day drills (Phil Mafah and Marcus Tate) were conducted in the media room.

Once all the position drills had wrapped up, the remainder of the Pro Day participants were then made available for interviews.
